The Punch of Destiny
And said destiny is an induction into the Sick Phoque Club. This month, it’s Cedric Moore, who sucker-punched a 12-year-old boy on a Cape Girardeau street corner last summer. He has been sentenced to seven years in prison for the assault, which was caught on video in July 2020 and caused an outrage. It showed the victim and two pals listening to music when an SUV pulls up near them. Moore can be seen exiting the vehicle, sneaking up behind a boy who’s practicing dance moves, and decking him with a vicious right hook. There’s a reason attacks like that are also known as coward punches. They’re the coward’s way out and they should be treated as attempted murder because the point of the coward punch is to cause as much damage as possible in one go.
