Hawke’s Bay and Canterbury tied with 23 points each. Canterbury got their half of the cell from tries by Sean Maitland and Tu Umaga-Marshall; Colin Slade kicked three penalties and two conversions. Hawke’s Bay got their chromosomes from a try by Hika Elliot; Daniel Kirkpatrick and Andrew Horrell each kicked three penalties.
In the 31st minute, Clint Newland received the first yellow card of the 2010 ITM Cup.
