I hope you've splashed out on a nice gift for your mother, but just a card with "happy mothers day mummy" scribbled on it with an unsharpened pencil and the s written backwards (probably something Amy Chua would reject because not enough effort was put into it) would be fine because you made it yourself, even if you didn't put lots of effort into it.
