Michael Jackson joke in Hot Tub Time Machine was off colour...

I saw a movie called Hot Tub Time Machine today. It had some really funny bits in it, but I feel the reference to Michael Jackson's skin colour was way too soon. In the relevant scene, when the main characters went back in time to 1986, one of the characters asked one of the people there what colour Michael Jackson was just to make sure it was just a retro party, but she answered that he was black. That reference to the King of Pop was way too soon.
