iBend becomes iFire

First Bendgate, now this - a man says he was in Arizona when his brand new iPhone 6 ignited in his jeans – causing second-degree burns. He had to throw ice water on the phone to stop the searing heat. The video, which was put on YouTube, has gone viral. In the background, you can hear witnesses ask if he's OK. It apparently happened when the rickshaw he was riding in tipped over. It's a scary incident for the man, who was with his wife and kids, and many people are wondering if iPhone 6 users should be concerned. The answer: Yes and no. First and foremost, there's nothing that makes the iPhone 6 more susceptible to this than any other smartphone, but cases like this do happen. However, there is some small concern – and several cases – for exploding phones. It all has to do with the lithium batteries inside these newer smartphones. Just don't overheat, overcharge, or apply too much pressure. To see the iPhone on fire, click here.
